When will you begin making money with your HubPages?

It happened! I checked my account statistics, and there it was, plain as day:

HubPages Ad Program Earnings: <$0.01 so far this month.

If I can make $0.01, I can make $1,000. The game is on.

So, how do you make money on HubPages?

Well, I don't know how you will make money on HubPages, but here is how I made my first cent, and expect many more to follow...

The boring stuff: I spent a few tedious hours figuring how to work with AdSense and HubPages Ad Program. Signing up, configuring, reading FAQ, until I saw "ACTIVE" across the AdSense and HubPages Ad settings.

The exciting stuff: In between configuring the boring stuff, I wrote articles on a subject I am passionate about: Rottweilers, owning a working breed, raising and training a pup; I read other Hubs, searched for the ones that relate to my topic, left a few comments, began to follow a few Hubbers.

Low and behold, the WHEN question can be answered...

It took me:

• 2 Days
• 6 Hubs
• 4 Followers
• 110 Visits
• 7 Comments and 7 Feedbacks

... for that first cent to be credited to my name.

Now, in the name of math, I can break it down for myself...

If I want to make $1,000 a month, that means I will have to make 100,000 cents each month. I can't imagine (yet) just one article attracting enough visitors to make that much money for me.

Let's now imagine I have 100 Hubs. Can I expect to make 1,000 cents on each Hub each month? I think so. It will mean I need to attract considerably more visitors than I do now, but I suspect it happens naturally if you continue to write quality content. It's only about 30-40 cents a day per article. Sounds very reasonable to me. I can do that.

When can I finish 100 Hubs? I am aiming to average 3 articles per day. At that rate, I should have 100 articles finished within 1.5 months. Does that mean I'll reach my goal of $1000 per month? Probably not, since I'm still learning how to attract readers.

The moral of the story? $0.01 is a sign of many good things to come.
